In Lao, possession can be shown in two ways: by direct juxtaposition ([Item] + [Owner], e.g. ເຮືອນຂ້ອຍ = my house), or explicitly by inserting ຂອງ (*khong* = of/belonging to).
Both are correct; ຂອງ adds emphasis or clarity in longer compound phrases.
