Twelve years in the making — research began in 1980, the formal project in 1988. Funded by the Toyota Foundation of Japan and published from Vientiane.

§ 01ໂຄງການລິເລີ່ມ · Project launched as a formal research undertaking, building on a decade of word-collection.
§ 02ຮາກຖານທາງໄວຍາກອນ · Adopted Phoumi Vongvichit's Lao Grammar (1967) as the orthographic standard.
§ 03ຮາກຖານທາງຂໍ້ມູນ · Used Mahasila Viravong's Ministry of Education Dictionary (1960) as the data spine.
§ 04ການກ່າວຂອບໃຈ · Acknowledged Toichi Makita and Yumiko Himemoto of the Toyota Foundation as primary patrons.

Sixteen years after the first printing, the author returned to the work with the National Library — re-reading every entry, regularising orthography, and adding 500 new words.

What changed in this edition

§ 01ການກວດທົບທວນ · Every entry re-read and re-verified against printed sources; right/wrong forms made explicit.
§ 02ການຮຽງລຳດັບໃໝ່ · Sections re-sorted where the previous edition had drifted from the established alphabetical order.
§ 03ການນຳໃຊ້ "ຣ" · Introduced the letter ຣ for transliterating foreign words that carry a rolled "r" — Paris (ປາຣີ), Hungary (ຮົງກາຣີ).
§ 04ການເພີ່ມຄຳສັບ · 500 new entries from contemporary economic, political, scientific, and cultural usage.
