Classifiers — counting nouns
ເນື້ອໃນທີ່ຂຽນຂຶ້ນ · Authored content

The dictionary holds no grammar data. This lesson is drafted to establish the layout; the Lao below carries its provenance, and everything marked composed awaits review by a Lao linguist before it ships.

In Lao, you do not say "two cars" or "three books". You say "car two [vehicle-unit]" and "book three [volume-unit]".

The counting formula is strictly: Noun + Number + Classifier. Common classifiers include ຄົນ (people), ຄັນ (vehicles/umbrellas), ຫົວ (books/fruits), and ໂຕ (animals/garments).

Only the highlighted token moves or appears. The three original words never change — no conjugation, no agreement, no tense on the verb.
