In English you say: I eat, he eats, we ate, they have eaten. In Lao, the verb ກິນ never alters by even a single stroke. There is no past tense suffix, no third-person -s, no irregular stems, and no plural agreement.
Whether the subject is one person (ຂ້ອຍ), an elder (ເພິ່ນ), or a hundred people (ພວກເຂົາ), the verb remains steadfast.
